Thank you to everyone who visited us at the AusRAIL stand at the RTSA’s recent biennial Conference on Railway Excellence (CORE) in Melbourne!
resizeIt was a great networking opportunity that highlighted the many benefits of face-to-face catch-ups and discussions with industry. There were many familiar and always friendly faces, including the AusRAIL Technical Papers Committee and regular AusRAIL exhibitors such as 4Tel, Speno, Geomatic Technologies, Pandrol, Beena Vision, ACRI and RISSB.
We were also there to remind everyone that AusRAIL 2016 is being hosted in Adelaide on the 22 & 23 November and what better way to celebrate visiting Adelaide for AusRAIL then entering a competition to win platinum tickets to Day One of the Australia Vs South Africa Cricket Test Match!
Played as a day-night fixture, this Third Test at the newly redeveloped Adelaide Oval starts on 24 November 2016 – the day after AusRAIL.
James Sutherland, the Chief Executive for Cricket Australia shares our enthusiasm.
“Nearly 124 000 people attended the inaugural day-night Test match in Adelaide last year and there has been great anticipation about future day-night Tests since. It’s wonderful that the next one in Australia will be against South Africa. This announcement will further fuel the excitement about what promises to be a fascinating series between formidable rivals” he said.
There’s excitement in the Proteas as well. “As players, we are really happy to have grown our confidence to play a day-night Test match in a positive way,” commented Standard Bank Proteas captain, AB de Villiers.
Pink cricket ball“This will be the first time that our players in the Test squad will play pink ball Test match cricket in front of such a large crowd and to be part of this novel concept will no doubt be a landmark moment in all of our careers”
Congratulations to our first winner Brian Crawford from Autech AG, who was recently announced via the AusRAIL e-newsletter.
Brian wins two Platinum tickets but there’s still many more chances to win platinum tickets to Day One of the Test, so sign up to the AusRAIL e-newsletter to keep an eye out for the number of competitions that we’ll be running over the next few months!
These tickets have been booked as part of a group, meaning that you’ll potentially be seated with other AusRAIL attendees to provide you with additional opportunities to network with industry colleagues.
Q: What does AusRAIL 2016 and the Adelaide Oval have in common?
A: Economic growth
If you haven’t been to Adelaide since AusRAIL was last in town, then make time to visit the Adelaide Oval – a cultural icon and must-see for all sports fans.
In March, the Oval welcomed its four millionth visitor since its award-winning redevelopment two years ago, which has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in economic benefits and supported hundreds of jobs.
“The redeveloped Adelaide Oval has become the centrepiece of the revitalisation of our city” Premier Jay Weatherill said.

“What’s more that economic activity is conservatively estimated to have created the equivalent of about 700 jobs in the city, generating wages and business incomes of $158 million.”
